A water bearer had two large pots. Each hung on either end of the pole, which he carried across his shoulders delivering water to people’s houses every day along the same pathway. One of the pots had cracks in it while the other was perfect. As a result, the water bearer was delivering one and half pots full of water per trip. The perfect pot was proud of its accomplishment while the poor cracked pot, mindful of its imperfection, felt truly ashamed.
One day, the cracked pot addressed the water bearer thus, “I am ashamed of myself and I want to apologize to you for your not reaping the full benefit of your efforts: because of the water leaking from my cracks”. The water bearer was touched by the pots confession and responded gently, ‘Notice how there are beautiful flowers only on your side of the pathway, and not on the other side. That’s because I knew of your flaw and used it to advantage by planting flower seeds on your side of the pathway. As a result, I have been able to pick these flowers and gladden people’s hearts.” Every element in the universe has been created by nature for a specific purpose.
We are all leaking pots. Each one of us has our own unique flaws. Let us not regret or deny them but accept and convert them into pluses. Just like the water bearer, let us turn our own flaws into flowers. It is these infirmities that cause us to turn to the ALMIGHTY who shows us the way to change adversity into opportunity and beautify the pathway of our life.
